In the 2007 adventure-comedy film Firehouse Dog, the audience is introduced to the life of Rex, an incredibly talented and famous Hollywood movie star dog known for performing his own stunts in action-packed films. During one of his shoots, he accidentally falls off the set and ends up getting separated from his owner and trainer, Markus.

Rex finds himself wandering the streets of downtown Los Angeles confused about his new life without Markus by his side. In his desperate search to find Markus, Rex stumbles upon a local fire station where he is taken in by a group of firefighters led by Connor Fahey, Bruce Greenwood's character. The firefighters are hesitant to take care of the dog initially but the friendly demeanor of Rex wins them over, and they decide that he is to stay at the station temporarily.

In his stay, Rex's natural talents come to light, and he sets out to help these firefighters in their rescue missions in his own way. The dogs' incredible ferocity against fire, natural instincts, and talents soon earn him the title of an official firehouse dog, and the entire fire station soon comes to love and accept him into their family.

As Rex becomes a regular at the station, he develops an unlikely friendship with Connor's young son, Shane, played by Josh Hutcherson, who has been estranged from his dad due to the family's recent move to the city. In his time with Shane, Rex teaches the young boy the importance of being a hero and staying true to oneself.

As Rex continues his search for Markus, the secret behind Rex's disappearance is eventually revealed. Along with this, Markus discovers that Rex has found a new home at the fire station and has settled in quite well. The realization drives Markus to come to the station and reclaim his furry friend. However, Rex, having found a new family with the fire station and Shane, is reluctant to leave.

The film's plot explores the relationships between the people and their pets and the importance of the love and support they share. Firehouse Dog is a heartwarming family-friend film filled with humor, action, and drama. The film's cast brings the story to life with exceptional performances, and the special effects used to create the dog's movements are visually appealing.
