Fortress is a thrilling sci-fi action movie that was released in 1992. The movie stars Christopher Lambert, Loryn Locklin, and Kurtwood Smith. The story is set in a dystopian future where the population is controlled by the government, and families are limited in the number of children they are allowed to have. The movie is a blend of action and sci-fi genres, featuring futuristic technology, prison escapes, and an intriguing storyline.

The movie opens with John Brennick (Christopher Lambert) and his wife Karen (Loryn Locklin) attempting to cross the border into Canada to escape the high security of the American government. However, they are caught and arrested by a group of soldiers led by the ruthless Director Poe (Kurtwood Smith). John and Karen are sent to a maximum-security prison called "The Fortress," which is located underground and houses the most dangerous criminals.

Once inside the prison, John discovers that the inmates are subjected to various tortures, including implantation of "Intestinators" – a nanotech device that monitors a prisoner's movements and can explode if they step out of line. John also learns that Karen is pregnant, which is illegal under the government's strict population control laws. John and Karen are forced to choose between having the baby terminated or having Karen implanted with an Intestinator.

As John becomes more desperate to escape, he forms alliances with several other inmates, including Abraham (Liz May Brice). Together, they hatch a plan to escape the prison and rescue Karen. Along the way, they face numerous challenges, including the prison's advanced security systems, Poe's sadistic tactics, and the risk of detonating their Intestinators.

The movie's action scenes are well-choreographed and keep the audience on the edge of their seats. There are also several well-executed special effects, including the futuristic technology used in the prison, such as virtual reality simulations and "tunneling" machines that move through solid rock.

The performances by the three main actors are strong and add depth to the story. Lambert portrays John as a strong-willed and determined man who will stop at nothing to save his family. Locklin's Karen is a supportive and strong-willed character who is willing to risk everything to save her unborn child. Kurtwood Smith delivers an excellent performance as the ruthless Director Poe, who takes pleasure in the suffering of the inmates.

One of the most intriguing aspects of the movie is its exploration of the themes of government control, overpopulation, and personal freedoms. The story highlights the danger of a government that exercises complete control over the population and the moral dilemmas that arise when citizens are forced to choose between personal freedoms and the greater good.

Overall, Fortress is an exciting sci-fi action movie that delivers a well-crafted blend of intriguing storytelling, intense action, and impressive special effects. It's a must-watch for fans of the genre and is sure to keep viewers on the edge of their seats.
