Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance stars Nicholas Cage as the Ghost Rider and is the sequel to the movie Ghost Rider that premiered in 2007. This movie takes place five years after the last movie, and the Ghost Rider has gone into hiding because of his power. He is the demon of vengeance who must judge everyone who is unrighteous. While the Ghost Rider is in hiding, the forces of evil have conspired to capture a young boy named Danny. They seek to give Roarke (the Devil) access to the surface world. A monk named Moreau has become aware of the plot and seeks to save the mother and her son. Unknown to the them, Danny's mother made a pact with the Devil to save her life in exchange for bearing his son.
The Monastery is attacked by the Devil's forces, and the monk helps Nayda and Danny escape. Seeing only one option to save the child's life, Moreau seeks the help of the Rider. When he finally finds the Rider, he seems very uncaring about the welfare of the young boy. The monk then offers the Rider a chance to redeem his condemned soul. This opportunity to be free from his curse is all the motivation he needs to fight for the young boy.
As the movie reaches its climax, the truth about the Rider's identity is revealed. Johnny Blaze finds out that the Ghost Rider is actually the Spirit of Justice (not Vengeance) and has been corrupted by Roarke. In the final battle, Roarke is banished back to Hell, while the Rider seeks to save the young boy's soul from going to Hell as well. He is able to raise the young man from the dead.
Nicholas Cage can celebrate some welcome good news: he's pared down his 2007 back-taxes bill to the tune of around $6.25 million, E! Online reports. Keep in mind, that's only the good news. These things have a way of evening themselves out.
