Roy Rogers stars in Hands Across the Border, a 1944 Western musical directed by Joseph Kane. Rogers plays himself as a singing cowboy and traveling performer, who becomes embroiled in a plot involving a wealthy landowner, his scheming son, and a band of criminals. The story begins when Rogers and his band arrive in a small Texas town, hoping to perform at a local rodeo. Along the way, they meet the lovely daughter (played by Ruth Terry) of a rancher who is facing financial troubles. Meanwhile, a group of bandits, led by a notorious outlaw named The Hawk, are terrorizing the area, stealing cattle and robbing banks.

Rogers soon learns that the wealthy landowner, Bart Mason, is secretly behind the bandit attacks. Mason hopes to drive the struggling ranchers out of business, so he can buy up their land at a low price. When Mason's son, Bert, falls in love with Rogers' new friend, the music star becomes even more determined to stop the corrupt tycoon's plans.

As the plot thickens, Rogers and his pals find themselves caught up in an escalating series of chases, gunfights, and daring rescues. Along the way, Rogers serenades his love interest with a number of catchy tunes, including the film's signature song, "Hands Across the Border."

The film explores themes of justice, perseverance, and the power of music, making it a memorable entry in the Western musical genre. Rogers, who was known for his wholesome onscreen persona, delivers a charming performance as the singing cowboy with a heart of gold. Trigger, his beloved horse, also steals the show with a number of impressive stunts and tricks.

While Hands Across the Border may not be the most groundbreaking or original film in Rogers' extensive filmography, it remains a delightful showcase of his talents as a musician and actor. For fans of classic Westerns or vintage musicals, it's definitely worth a watch.

Hands Across the Border is a 1944 western with a runtime of 1 hour and 12 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.8.
