The film entitled Happy Endings is centered on the life and experiences of a group of people. The film features different groups of middle class inhabitants of Los Angeles. It portrays their experiences in day to day life as they face challenges of various types. It goes on to reveal how they all meet at a restaurant to discuss and share ideas on how to solve their problems.
The film comprises of different stories centered on family life, love all interwoven to give a picture of life as a whole. The first story features a lady known as Mamie who unwillingly accepts a job to work with a filmmaker. She accepts the job so that she can be able to raise money and look for her long lost son whom she had with her cousin Charley. She gave up her son for adoption when she could not take care of him. Later on in the film, Charley discovered to be gay.
The second story is about a lady known as Arc, who lives with her step brother and his wife Gil. They find out that two of their female friends are lesbians but are confused whether to confront them or let them be.
The third story is about a guy called Otis who is a member of a well known band but has a secret which he has been keeping from his father for so many years. Otis is gay and does not want his father to ever find out about it. He also has a challenge of dealing with Jude, a woman whom he dates but thinks she simply interested in his money and is not with him because of love.
The film was written and directed by Don Roos. The main characters in the movie include Tom Arnold starring as Frank, Jesse Bradford as Nicky, Maggie Gyllenhaal starring as Jude, Lisa Kudrow as Mamie, Jason Ritter as Otis.
