Hell Ride is a 2008 biker action-thriller film directed, written, and starred by Larry Bishop. The film takes us on a thrilling ride of vengeance, brotherhood, and redemption through the world of motorcycle gangs. The plot centers around the biker gang 'The Victors,' led by Pistolero, played by Larry Bishop. The gang is on a mission to avenge the death of their female comrade who was killed in a gruesome way under mysterious circumstances. Along with his two other gang members, The Gent (Michael Madsen) and Comanche (Eric Balfour), Pistolero embarks on a journey to seek revenge against the member of a rival gang called The 666ers.

As they ride their motorcycles and soak in the desert sun, they are continuously pursued by a mystical figure dubbed The Deuce (Dennis Hopper). The Deuce is a former member of the Victors, and one of the most respected and feared figures of the motorcycle world. He seems to be always appearing out of nowhere to aid or hinder the Victors, and the reason for his presence is revealed as the plot unfolds.

The movie has a typical 70s biker movie feel to it, filled with chopper motorcycles, beautiful women and a constant stream of profanity. There is plenty of violence, and it is definitely not a movie for the faint-hearted. The film has a ton of classic biker film traits, from women who are only used as arm candy to portrayals of violence as the solution to everything. It's worth noting that the film has been criticized for its portrayal of women and its excessive violence in some quarters.

The dialogue is laced with humor and some surprising moments of emotional depth. The cast is a standout. Dennis Hopper's portrayal of The Deuce is one of the features of the film. He serves as the voice of reason, ensuring that the hell ride doesn't go off the rails, and he brings a complexity to the character that elevates him above the stereotypical roles that often define biker gang movies.

Michael Madsen's performance as The Gent is terrific. He perfectly embodies the rough, no-nonsense attitude of The Victors, and his interactions with Elisha Cuthbert's character Nada, a woman Pistolero picks up at a bar, provide the story with memorable moments. Balfour's depiction of Comanche is solid, with the actor having some of the best lines in the film.

The movie's soundtrack features a variety of rock and roll, including 'Under My Wheels' by Alice Cooper and 'Two Tickets to Paradise' by Eddie Money, perfectly complementing the adrenaline-filled motorcycle sequences.

The cinematography is nothing short of spectacular. The vast expanses of the desert that provide the backdrop for the motorcycle scenes add a layer of beauty to the film, with the shots of the landscape allowing the audience to soak up the scenery. Filmed using super 16 and 35mm film, the movie has the gritty vintage look of a biker movie from the past.

In summary, Hell Ride is an ode to classic biker movies of the past, from its plot to its dialogue, music, and cinematography. It's a violent, profane, and gritty film that should be viewed with an open mind, understanding its context and the time when it was made. Although it doesn't break new ground in terms of its narrative or the way it is presented, it offers some enjoyable and entertaining moments for fans of classic biker films.

Hell Ride is a 2008 action movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 23 minutes. It has received poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.0 and a MetaScore of 25.
