Hitch gives the seemingly helpless Albert on how to approach women, talk to men, and above all how to create an opportunity for Allegra to notice him and fall for him. The comedic chemistry between the suave Smith and the always humorous James, as the two go through the basics of understanding women, with pleasant results.
The plan for Albert to attract Allegra actually begins to work and the two have a brief courtship, much to everyone's surprise, until it's found out by the media that Hitch is a professional so called date doctor who has been helping Albert land the girl of his dreams.
Meanwhile, a second plot develops in which Hitch has his own romantic pursuits in the form of gossip columnist Sara, played by Eva Mendes. As Hitch courts Sara, he begins to mirror the bumbling and uncool role of James' character.
Sara finds it charming, but is still fearful of men who are lying to get what they want. Those fears are realized when she discovers that Hitch is the infamous date doctor, who she wrongly believes helped out another sleazy man have a one night stand with her best friend. Once she realizes what Hitch does for a living, Sara blows up and ends the relationship.
In typical hollywood fashion, all the characters end up living happily ever after, but not without a few hilarious and entertaining twists and turns along the way, which make Hitch a movie that's definitely worth watching.
