The film entitled Home on the Range is about cows on a farm known as the Dixon ranch named after the owner Dixon. One night, a cattle rustler known as Alamida comes in and steals all the cows leaving behind one cow named Maggie. Dixon then decides to sell Maggie to a lady known as Pearl. Pearl owns a dairy farm known as Patch of Heaven.
Pearl is at the verge of losing her farm if she fails to pay a huge sum of money to her debtors. Maggie learns about this and decides to help. She talks to other cows including Grace and Calloway about going to town to raise money and save the farm. The cows then leave for town and while there they come across Rico who proposes a huge amount of money to any cow willing to assist him capture Alamida. Maggie and his friends accept to do the task and take the money.
Late at night they hide in a safe place and wait for Alamida to approach. Alamida comes along singing a song that sets attracts all the cattle towards him. they start following him everywhere he goes but just as he is about to close the path behind him, Grace rescues Maggie and Calloway.
As Rico and his cows plan on how to capture Alamida, a rabbit known as Jack comes along and decides to help them locate Alamida. He takes them to Alamida's hiding place in a mine. Alamida is having a discussion with a friend and boasts of how he steals cattle from different cattle owners.
The cows successfully arrive at the mine and capture Alamida. The cows later find out that Rico is Alamida's accomplice. They return to the farm and report Alamida to the police who arrest and detain him.
The film was written by Will Finn and John Sanford who also directed it. It was produced by Alice Dewey.
