Hot Pursuit is a 1987 action-comedy movie set in the state of Texas, USA. The movie follows the story of Dan Bartlett (John Cusack), a young man who is determined to become a police officer. He is given the chance to prove himself when he is tasked with escorting a witness, a beautiful young woman named Maria (Wendy Gazelle), to trial in Dallas. Maria is the daughter of a notorious drug dealer named Felix Riptide (Robert Loggia), and had agreed to testify against him in exchange for immunity.

Dan's trip starts off smoothly, but it soon becomes clear that they are being pursued by Felix's hitmen, who are determined to silence Maria before she can testify. Dan and Maria's journey takes them on a wild chase through Texas, with Felix's men hot on their trail. The pair also find themselves pursued by the police, who mistake them for criminals.

Along the way, Dan and Maria encounter a number of interesting characters, including a pair of hapless criminals named Tony and Carlos (Jerry Stiller and Ben Stiller, respectively), who inadvertently help Dan and Maria out of a couple of tight spots.
