Hyenas is the story of Gannon, a grieving widow who decides to take up vengeance against those that took his wife from this world. However, he has a fateful encounter with "Crazy" Josiah Biggs, a homeless man who explains to Gannon about the African legend of skin walkers; intelligent and cruel hyenas blessed with the power to assume human disguises. Eventually, Gannon's vendetta turns into genocide when he learns that a den of skin walkers, led by "Wilda," have set up a base of operations in his town. However, Gannon gains an unlikely ally to his blood oath in the form of Valerie, a skin walker half-breed who feels that Wilda and followers should be put down for good.
