Indestructible Man is a classic 1950s American horror film, starring the legendary actor, Lon Chaney Jr., best known for his portrayal of Larry Talbot in The Wolf Man. The film was directed by Jack Pollexfen and produced by Albert Zugsmith. The plot centers around the experiment of a death row inmate, Charles "Butcher" Benton, who is executed by electric chair, but is then resurrected by scientific means. He returns from the dead, seeking revenge on those who betrayed him and caused him to end up in jail in the first place.

The movie opens with Benton's execution, which is carried out in a prison electric chair. Before he died, he swore to come back and get revenge on the people who sent him to the gas chamber. Shortly after his death, a scientist named Bradshaw, who has been experimenting with a new serum that can revive dead organisms, uses Benton's corpse for his experiments.

After he's brought back to life, Benton discovers his new powers - he's impervious to bullets, knives, and other forms of violence. He plots his revenge against the people who betrayed him, which includes his former partner, Squeamy Ellis, and his lawyer, Paul Lowe. He also goes after Lowe's secretary, Eva Martin, who was his former girlfriend.

The main plotline is that Benton takes revenge on each of the three people, with each kill getting more brutal than the previous one. Meanwhile, the police are on his tail, but they are unable to stop him due to his indestructibility.

The film has several subplots as well. Bradshaw's assistant, Frank, is a sympathetic character who tries to stop the mad scientist's gruesome experiments. He tries to convince Bradshaw to stop using dead bodies for his experiments, but Bradshaw is obsessed with his research and won't listen. Meanwhile, Eva is dating a handsome police officer, who has no idea she was once involved with the Butcher Benton.

The film is shot in black and white and has a moody, film noir atmosphere. Lon Chaney Jr. gives a solid, menacing performance as Benton. His deep-set eyes and rugged features combine to create an imposing presence. However, he also has a certain vulnerability that makes him compelling to watch. The rest of the cast is pretty good, with Max Showalter and Marian Carr both giving decent performances.

The special effects, for the time, are impressive. The scenes where Benton is slowly revived by Bradshaw's serum are particularly effective. The film also features some impressive stunt work, including a car crash and a fight scene between Benton and a gangster.

One thing that's worth mentioning is that the film's pacing is a bit slow by modern standards. There are long stretches where not much happens, and the film relies on atmosphere to create tension. Some viewers may find this dull, but it's a hallmark of 1950s horror films.

Overall, Indestructible Man is an entertaining horror film that's worth watching for fans of the genre. It's not a masterpiece, but it's an enjoyable ride that features a notable performance by Lon Chaney Jr.

Indestructible Man is a 1956 crime movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 10 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 4.4.
