Inside I’m Dancing is a 2004 British comedy-drama film directed by Damien O'Donnell. The film stars James McAvoy, Steven Robertson, and Romola Garai. Set against the backdrop of Dublin, the movie tells the story of two friends who are dealing with their physical disabilities and trying to live a normal life. The film focuses on two friends, Rory O'Shea (James McAvoy) and Michael Connolly (Steven Robertson), who meet in a residential home for people with disabilities. Rory is a rebellious, adventurous and charismatic guy who is confined to a wheelchair and has Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Meanwhile, Michael has cerebral palsy and is unable to speak. Despite their differences, the two of them become close friends.

Rory, who is frustrated with the way the residents are being treated by the staff, encourages Michael to rebel against the home's rigid rules. Together, they venture out into the city, discovering its many secrets and exploring their own unfulfilled desires.

Rory and Michael finally decided to move out of the home and rent an apartment in the city. Rory has a love interest, Siobhan (Romola Garai), with whom he shares his passion for literature. Siobhan is also attracted to Rory, but has a boyfriend who she is committed to.

As Rory and Michael settle into their new apartment, they face a slew of challenges. They meet a woman named Fiona (Brenda Fricker) who helps them with their daily needs. They also face discrimination from people who only see their disabilities, rather than their personalities and dreams.

Through their experiences, they realize that life is not about what happens to them but what they make out of it. Rory being passionate about literature also writes his own memoir, "Inside I'm Dancing," that outlines his need for adventure and the fulfillment of his desires, concluding on an optimistic note about his future.

Overall, Inside I’m Dancing is a touching, humorous, and heartwarming movie that promotes acceptance, friendship, and perseverance. The film tackles the issue of how people with disabilities are often marginalized and treated unfairly, but it does so with sensitivity, humor, and ultimately hope. James McAvoy and Steven Robertson give outstanding performances and their chemistry is truly remarkable. The film's message is universal - everybody has dreams, aspirations and obstacles, and with determination and support, anything is possible.
