In Inspector Gadget's Last Case, we see the lovable bumbling detective of the titular character on a mission to retire from the detective business. The animated film brings back the same cast that we've known and loved. Maurice LaMarche voices Inspector Gadget and brings his quirky humor to the character. Bettina Bush is his equally funny niece Penny, and Jim Byrnes portrays the stern but understanding Chief Quimby.

As the movie opens, we see a museum curator giving a tour of an exhibit featuring all of the gadgets that Inspector Gadget has used over the years. Inspector Gadget is in attendance, and he seems to be at peace knowing that his gadgets will indeed live on after he retires. Suddenly, the Thumper Brothers intrude, and our hero springs into action, chasing them throughout the museum. The chase sequence is thrilling, and we get to see all of Gadget's gadgets in action.

However, this chase leads to something more significant. Inspector Gadget discovers that Dr. Claw, his archnemesis who he thought was long dead, is alive and well, and he's staging a new plan to take over the world. Making matters worse, Dr. Claw has a new henchman who's much smarter than any of his previous lackeys. His name is Digit, and he's a robot that can outthink Inspector Gadget's own computerized brain.

As the story progresses, we see Inspector Gadget reignite his passion for detective work as he tries to stop Dr. Claw's nefarious plan. The hunt leads to a secret laboratory in The Arctic and a showdown that involves Inspector Gadget using all of his gadgets against Digit's artificial intelligence.

One of the standout aspects of Inspector Gadget's Last Case is the animation. The movie has a beautiful, colorful aesthetic that perfectly captures the zany and unpredictable world of Inspector Gadget. We especially love how the film incorporates the various gadgets and inventions that Gadget has used throughout his career. They're all rendered with the same level of attention to detail that brings the character to life.

The voice acting is also excellent. Maurice LaMarche, Bettina Bush, and Jim Byrnes all slip back into their roles with ease, making each character feel lived-in and familiar. Maurice LaMarche is particularly noteworthy. He brings an infectious energy and humor to Inspector Gadget that makes the character endearing.

However, the film isn't without its flaws. Some of the jokes fall flat, and the plot can be predictable at times. But overall, Inspector Gadget's Last Case is a fun and action-packed ride that will leave fans of the classic character satisfied.

In conclusion, Inspector Gadget's Last Case is an entertaining animated movie that expertly brings the beloved character back to life. The animation is beautiful, the voice acting is top-notch, and the action sequences are thrilling. While it's not perfect, it's a fitting sendoff for one of the most iconic characters of the 90s. If you're a fan of Inspector Gadget or just love animated movies, this one is definitely worth checking out.
