Jane, a 1962 black and white film, is a story of two sisters who come from opposite sides of the coin. Bette Davis takes on the role of Jane Hudson, an aging former child star who has lost her way in life. She lives in a crumbling old mansion on a hill, with only her memories and alcohol for company. On the other side of the coin is her sister Blanche, played by Joan Crawford, who is a successful movie star.

The movie begins with preparations for Blanche's return to the mansion for a visit. Jane is excited at the prospect of seeing her sister, but there is a sense of tension in the air. Blanche has become paralyzed from the waist down after a tragic car accident, and Jane is struggling to come to terms with her sister's success and her own failures.

From the start, it's clear that the sisters have a tumultuous and complex relationship. Jane is jealous of Blanche's success, while Blanche feels guilty about her sibling's struggles. These emotions come to the fore when Jane is asked to perform a number from her childhood act for a local charity, and both sisters end up reliving old memories.

As the movie progresses, the tension between the sisters deepens. Jane's drinking is becoming more and more of an issue, and she begins to resent Blanche for her glamorous lifestyle. Things come to a head when Blanche reveals that she wants to sell the family home, and the two sisters have a vicious argument that leads to a catastrophic accident.

Victor Buono plays Edwin Flagg, a pianist that Jane hires to accompany her act for the charity performance. He's an eccentric character, with a love for classical music and a slightly sinister edge. As the story unfolds, it becomes clear that he has his own agenda and is not as innocent as he initially seems.

The performances from both Davis and Crawford are exceptional, and their chemistry is electric. Davis is heartbreaking as the aging former child star, still clinging onto her fame and desperate for recognition. Crawford, on the other hand, is perfectly cast as the glamorous movie star, effortlessly stealing every scene she's in.

The movie is beautifully shot, with a gothic atmosphere that perfectly captures the decaying family home and the sense of unease between the sisters. The score is haunting and intense, adding to the atmosphere of suspense that runs throughout the film.

Overall, Jane is a gripping and intense drama that explores themes of jealousy, regret, and family ties. It's a testament to the power of great acting and storytelling and has rightly earned its place as a classic of the genre.
