Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade is a 1999 Japanese animated movie directed by Hiroyuki Okiura. It tells the story of Kazuki Fuse, a member of the elite Panzer Cops unit who is tasked with securing a large protest in Tokyo. However, things go awry when Fuse fails to shoot a young girl who appears to be carrying a bomb. His hesitation leads to her committing suicide and his own reassignment to a lower position.

The story is set in an alternate history of Japan where the country was occupied by Germany after World War II. The government has been replaced by a police state known as the Capitol Police Organization (CPO), which wages a guerrilla war against the Sect, a terrorist organization that seeks to overthrow the government. The Panzer Cops are a heavily armed and armored police unit tasked with maintaining peace and order in the city.

Fuse is haunted by his failure to stop the suicide bomber and begins to question the government's motives and his own actions. His introspection is further fueled when he meets a young girl named Kei who is connected to the suicide mission he failed to stop. As he becomes more embroiled in the conflict between the CPO and the Sect, he is forced to confront his own beliefs and allegiances.

The animation in Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade is stunning, with detailed and realistic character designs. The movie's color palette is dark and moody, which enhances the film's somber and introspective tone. The action sequences are brutal and realistic, with the Panzer Cops' heavy armor adding a sense of weight and tension to the fights.

The movie deals with complex themes such as identity, loyalty, and the cost of violence. Fuse's introspection and conflict are central to the movie's emotional arc, and his eventual decision to confront his past in a climactic battle is powerful and moving.

The voice acting is superb, with Michael Dobson providing a nuanced and introspective performance as Fuse. Yoshikazu Fujiki is also excellent as Kei, imbuing her with a sense of vulnerability and determination that make her a compelling character.

Overall, Jin-Roh: The Wolf Brigade is a powerful and thought-provoking movie that explores complex themes in a unique and engaging way. The animation is stunning, the characters are well-drawn, and the story is both thrilling and emotionally resonant. It is a must-see for fans of anime and action movies alike.
