John Jani Janardhan is a 1984 Indian Tamil-language action film starring Rajinikanth, B. Thyagarajan, and Rati Agnihotri. Directed by R. Krishnamurthy and produced by AVM Productions, the film is a remake of the 1973 Hindi film, Amar Akbar Anthony. The story revolves around three brothers who were separated at a young age and raised in different religious households.

John (Rajinikanth) is raised by a Christian priest, while Jani (B. Thyagarajan) is raised by a Muslim cleric, and Janardhan (Sulakshana) is raised by a Hindu priest. All three brothers grow up to be strong and capable individuals. John becomes a renowned boxer, Jani is a skilled thief, and Janardhan is a talented musician.

Their paths cross when they unknowingly get involved in a criminal conspiracy. John falls in love with a Christian girl named Mary (Rati Agnihotri), while Jani romances a Muslim girl named Amina (Seema). Janardhan, on the other hand, gets caught up in the web of the villainous Ranga (Thengai Srinivasan). The three brothers soon realize that they are connected to each other and work together to foil Ranga's plans.

The film is an action-packed, high-energy entertainer with elements of romance and comedy. Rajinikanth's performance as John is particularly noteworthy, with his fight scenes and comic timing being a highlight of the film. B. Thyagarajan, who also produced the film, delivers a nuanced performance as Jani, with his chemistry with Seema being a highlight of the romance track.

Rati Agnihotri's Mary is a strong and independent character, which was a departure from the typical damsel in distress role that female characters were often relegated to in mainstream Tamil cinema of the time. Sulakshana's portrayal of Janardhan is also noteworthy, as she brings depth and emotion to a character that could have easily been a caricature.

The film's music, composed by Ilaiyaraaja, is also a highlight, with songs like "Ninaithaal Inikkum" and "Thooliyilae Aada Vantha" becoming popular hits. The film's cinematography, by A. Vincent, captures the action and romance with equal finesse.

John Jani Janardhan was a commercial success upon release and is still remembered as a cult classic by Rajinikanth's fans. It is also noted for its progressive themes of religious harmony and the portrayal of strong female characters. Overall, the film is a must-watch for Rajinikanth fans and anyone looking for an entertaining and engaging film.
