Jungle 2 Jungle is a family comedy film that was released in 1997. Directed by John Pasquin, the movie stars Tim Allen, Martin Short, JoBeth Williams, Sam Huntington, Leelee Sobieski, and David Ogden Stiers. The story revolves around Michael Cromwell (Tim Allen), a successful businessman who has been too busy making a name for himself to dedicate time to his family. He's about to get married to Charlotte (JoBeth Williams), a chic hotel manager, and he's planning to take her on a tropical vacation to finalize the adoption of a young boy named Mimi-Siku (Sam Huntington), whom he fathered during a one-night stand with a tribe woman on his previous excursion to South America.

However, Michael soon discovers that Mimi-Siku has grown up in a completely different world from him. Mimi-Siku, now a teenager, is a member of a tribe in the Amazon rainforest who has never encountered modern civilization. Therefore, he is unaware of social norms, such as wearing clothing, respecting personal space or cultural taboos, which creates a lot of comedic situations.

One of the highlights of the movie is the relationship between Michael and Mimi-Siku. At the beginning, Michael seems to be hesitant about embracing Mimi-Siku as his son, and is more interested in him as a commodity. However, as they start spending time together, Michael starts to learn about his son's culture and way of living, and this helps him grow closer to Mimi-Siku, becoming a father figure to him. Mimi-Siku, on his part, sees in Michael an opportunity to learn about and eventually conquer the modern world, a goal that he's had for a long time.

To help Mimi-Siku adjust to the modern world and social norms, Michael reaches out to his friend Richard (Martin Short), a fellow businessman who also doubles as an etiquette coach. Richard, in true Martin Short comedy fashion, is a flamboyant character who sports berets, bow ties and a grandiose manner of speaking. Richard's interactions with Mimi-Siku, who is guileless and tactless, are some of the funniest moments in the movie.

The interactions between Michael, Mimi-Siku, Charlotte, and Richard are the driving force of the movie, but there are also various subplots that add to the story. For instance, Michael's ex-wife Janine (played by Lolita Davidovich) is still in love with him and seeks to reconnect with him, a fact that Charlotte can't help but be jealous of. Additionally, Michael finds himself caught up in a business deal with a corrupt businessman named Alexei (David Ogden Stiers), which is not only unethical but also puts him and his family in danger.

Jungle 2 Jungle takes us on a virtual tour of life in both the concrete jungle of New York City and the lush jungle of South America. The contrast between these two worlds is brilliantly played out, and the cinematography of both environments is stunning. The tribesmen's costumes, weaponry and rituals are authentic and interesting, and the film does an excellent job of showing the beauty and complexity of indigenous cultures.

Overall, Jungle 2 Jungle is a heartwarming, funny, and entertaining movie that will appeal to all members of the family. The story of a father and son learning to appreciate and relate to each other is timeless, and the movie is a great reminder of the importance of family and the need to bridge cultural differences. The movie is not only about funny cultural differences, but it also teaches how humans can learn a lot from nature, in terms of coexisting with nature and treating nature with respect.

Jungle 2 Jungle is a 1997 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 45 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.2 and a MetaScore of 42.
