Khud-Daar is a 1982 Bollywood film directed by Ravi Tandon starring Sanjeev Kumar, Amitabh Bachchan, and Vinod Mehra. The movie tells the story of a man named Govind who is forced to lead a life of poverty and misery after being betrayed by his own family. However, with the help of his friends and his own strength and determination, he rises again to take revenge on his enemies and reclaim what is rightfully his.

The film opens with a glimpse of Govind’s happy life with his father and sister. His father is a debt-ridden farmer, but the family is content in their own little world until Govind’s evil uncle and his family come into the picture. The uncle cunningly tricks Govind’s father into signing over their land in exchange for a paltry sum of money which he then uses to take the family to the city. Govind’s father dies soon after, and his sister is forced into prostitution, leaving Govind alone and destitute on the streets.

Govind is taken in by a group of friends who teach him the tricks of the trade, and after a few years of scraping and struggling, he lands a job in a factory. However, his new-found happiness is short-lived when the evil uncle resurfaces and tries to take over the factory. Govind is forced to stand up to him and his band of goons, and he is promptly fired from his job as a result. Unbeknownst to the villainous uncle, Govind has secretly acquired the ownership papers for the factory, and he soon learns how to use them to his advantage.

The rest of the movie is a classic tale of revenge and redemption as Govind uses his intelligence, strength, and the support of his friends to outwit his enemies and gain control of his life once again. Sanjeev Kumar delivers a powerful performance as Govind – his transformation from a broken man to a self-assured hero is believable and inspiring. Amitabh Bachchan plays a smaller role as a friend of Govind’s but as expected, he brings his signature charisma to the screen. Vinod Mehra is also noteworthy as the villainous uncle whose greed and cunning make him a formidable foe.

The film is notable for its gritty portrayal of urban poverty and the struggles of the working class. The song “Aaj Itni Bhi Nahin Chali” is a poignant reflection of the harsh realities faced by the underprivileged. The movie also has some impressive action scenes that add to the tension and drama of the plot.

Overall, Khud-Daar is a well-crafted film that offers a mix of drama, action, and social commentary. The stellar cast and the powerful plot make for an entertaining and thought-provoking movie. If you’re a fan of Bollywood films from the 80s, this one is definitely worth a watch.
