In the 2004 Bollywood film Lakshya, Hrithik Roshan plays Karan Shergill, a directionless young man who doesn't know what he wants to do with his life. His parents want him to join the military, but Karan is more interested in partying and being with his girlfriend Romi (played by Preity Zinta). After an embarrassing incident at a family event, Karan decides to join the Indian army on a whim, hoping to prove himself to his parents and impress Romi.

Karan is initially a terrible soldier, struggling with the physical and mental demands of army life. His superiors, including Col. Sunil Damle (played by Amitabh Bachchan), are frustrated with him and don't believe he has what it takes to succeed. However, Karan gradually starts to improve, inspired by his fellow soldiers and a strong desire to prove himself. He becomes more disciplined and focused, and even starts taking his job seriously.

The second half of the film focuses on the Kargil War, a conflict between India and Pakistan that took place in 1999. Karan is assigned to a reconnaissance mission in the Himalayas, where he and his fellow soldiers must track down and eliminate Pakistani militants who have infiltrated Indian territory. The mission is dangerous and deadly, and Karan is forced to confront some harsh realities of war. He begins to realize the importance of what he's doing and the sacrifices that his fellow soldiers are making.

Lakshya explores several themes, including self-discovery, patriotism, and the horrors of war. Karan's journey from a directionless party boy to a dedicated soldier is compelling, and Hrithik Roshan delivers a powerful performance. Preity Zinta is also excellent as Romi, who struggles to understand Karan's motivations and fears for his safety.

Amitabh Bachchan's performance as Col. Damle is another highlight of the film. His character is tough but compassionate, and he sees the potential in Karan even when others don't. The scenes between Roshan and Bachchan are some of the film's most memorable, as the two actors have excellent chemistry.

The film's music, composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy, is also noteworthy. The songs are catchy and memorable, and add to the overall emotional impact of the film. Lakshya's cinematography, which captures the rugged beauty of the Himalayas, is also impressive.

Overall, Lakshya is a well-made and emotionally resonant film that explores some important themes. It's a great showcase for Hrithik Roshan's talents, and also features strong performances from Preity Zinta and Amitabh Bachchan. The film's depiction of the Kargil War is powerful and realistic, and serves as a reminder of the sacrifices that soldiers make to protect their country.

Lakshya is a 2004 war movie with a runtime of 3 hours and 7 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.8.
