Legend of the Millennium Dragon is a 2011 Japanese animated movie directed by Hirotsugu Kawasaki. The movie is based on a novel by Takafumi Takada and produced by Studio Pierrot. The movie follows Jun, a shy and reserved middle schooler who discovers that he is a reincarnation of a warrior from ancient times who is destined to save the world.

The movie begins with Jun living a mundane life in modern-day Tokyo. He is a socially awkward boy who constantly feels like an outcast. One day, while on a school trip to a museum, Jun is suddenly transported to ancient Japan. He finds himself in the middle of a battle between two warring clans, where he discovers that he has been transported back over 1,200 years in time.

Here, Jun learns that he is the reincarnation of a hero named Gen'un. Gen'un was a powerful warrior who, in his past life, fought against a demon named Orochi. Orochi, who was sealed away centuries ago, has returned and is threatening the peace of the world. It is now up to Jun to fulfill his destiny as Gen'un and use his newfound powers to defeat Orochi and his minions.

As Jun travels through ancient Japan, he meets new friends and allies who help him on his journey. He teams up with Raiko, a young samurai with a hot-headed personality but a strong sense of justice. They are also joined by Kyojyu, a spunky ninja who has a crush on Jun. Together, they set out to stop Orochi and his minions before they can cause any more destruction.

Throughout the movie, Jun struggles to come to terms with his newfound powers and the responsibility that comes with it. He is initially unsure of himself and afraid to use his powers, but as he gains more experience and confidence, he becomes more adept at using them. Together with his friends, he learns the importance of teamwork, courage, and selflessness in the face of danger.

The animation in Legend of the Millennium Dragon is of a very high quality. The movie is aesthetically pleasing, with detailed character designs and beautifully rendered backgrounds. The fight scenes are also well choreographed and exciting to watch. The music is composed by Taro Iwashiro and adds to the overall atmosphere of the movie, enhancing its emotional impact.

In terms of characters, Jun is a relatable protagonist. His struggles with self-doubt and anxiety make him a sympathetic character, and his growth throughout the movie is satisfying to watch. Raiko and Kyojyu are also interesting characters who are given their own moments to shine. Orochi and his minions, while not the most complex villains, are still threatening and provide a good foil for the heroes.

Overall, Legend of the Millennium Dragon is an enjoyable movie that combines elements of fantasy and action. While it may not be the most original story, it is well-executed and has enough twists and turns to keep the audience engaged. The characters are likable, the animation is great, and the music adds to the overall experience. It is a good movie for those who enjoy the genre and are looking for a fun, action-packed adventure.

Legend of the Millennium Dragon is a 2011 adventure movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 38 minutes.
