Taylor Swift and Amanda Seyfried Lined Up for 'Les Miserables'

Eponine and Cosette: two roles in "Les Miserables" that may have been more contested by big-name stars than any others in recent years. After all, it's not often that Hollywood does a large-scale adaptation of one of the most iconic musicals in history.

As a result, starlets like Scarlett Johansson and "Glee" star Lea Michele tried to get in on the project in one of those two roles. But it looks like the big winners might just be Amanda Seyfriend and, oddly enough, Taylor Swift, both of whom have been offered roles.

Nothing is set in stone yet, but according to various sources, Seyfried has been offered the role of Cosette and Swift has been offered the role of Eponine.

These choices make a statement about the aims of the movie, which director Tom Hooper plans to shoot using live performances of the music, as opposed to pre-recording tracks in studios and having the actors lip-sync on set. Clearly an emphasis is being put on finding performers who can sing well in any circumstances.

Seyfried has a background in opera, which will help her in that scenario. Swift is an obvious choice musically, as her concerts and many other live performances will vouch. However, with only a handful of prior acting roles to speak of (she appeared in "Valentine's Day" and will provide a voice in the upcoming "The Lorax"), we will have to see how Swift handles the high drama of "Les Miserables."

Should they join, Swift and Seyfried would join Russell Crowe, Hugh Jackman, Anne Hathaway, Sacha Baron Cohen and others in the production.

Assuming the two lovely blondes are soon signed, what do you think about the casting choices? Let us know in the comments?
