Let Me In is a horror movie set in Los Alamos, New Mexico in December of 1983. The story follows a young boy named Owen, played by Kodi Smit-McPhee, and his unlikely friendship with Abby, played by Chloë Grace Moretz, a little girl who is not quite what she seems. Owen is a lonely twelve year old boy who is sadly ignored by his parents. Owen has it no better at school as he is tormented daily by a bully named Kenny, played by Dylan Minnette, and his friends. Owen meets Abby one night on the playground of the apartment complex where they both live and the two strike up a conversation. Abby tells Owen they can never be friends, but the two do become close, sharing Morse code messages between the walls of their apartments. Abby encourages Owen to stand up to Kenny and when he finally does some gruesome evidence is discovered, linking Owen's new friend to a number of unthinkable crimes.

Owen discovers that Abby is a vampire and a badly disfigured man named Thomas, played by Richard Jenkins, who Owen thinks is her father, is actually the person who supplies Abby with the blood she lives on. A police officer, played by Elias Koteas, manages to track down the apartment where Thomas and Abby lived while investigating the crimes and discovers Abby's secret. Owen is hiding in the apartment at the time and sees Abby attacking the officer, but Owen does nothing to save him. Later Abby tells Owen she must leave Los Alamos, as people have discovered the secret of who she really is.

Owen is a heartbroken over the loss of his only friend, but tries to move on with his life. While Owen is at his regular night time swim lesson Kenny, the bully who had tormented Owen throughout the film, decides to get his revenge for Owen's earlier act of rebellion against him. Kenny, while his friends stand guard, holds Owen's head under water in the pool, until Owen is near death. Owen only survives this vicious attack because Abby comes to his rescue and kills his tormentors.

The film ends with Owen riding on a train, seemingly alone except for a large trunk. In the films final scenes, tapping can be heard coming from the trunk. Owen taps back a response revealing to the audience that Abby is riding in the trunk to hide from the deadly rays of the sun.

Let Me In is a 2010 drama with a runtime of 1 hour and 56 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.1 and a MetaScore of 79.
