"Los Tarantos" (1963) is a Spanish musical. It was based on play called "La historia de los Tarantos," which was inspired by "Romeo and Juliet." It's about two young gypsies in Barcelona who fall in love with each other, despite belonging to feuding clans. The girl's father decides to marry her off to a friend of his, but the girl wants no part of the friend. She wants her lover, and the two decide to elope. Unfortunately, they're caught before they can leave.

"Los Tarantos" was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Picture.
