Love Undercover is a 2002 Hong Kong romantic comedy movie directed by Joe Ma. The movie follows the story of Janet Ma, played by Miriam Chin Wah Yeung, who is an eager and ambitious police officer working hard to move up in the ranks of the force. She is assigned on an undercover mission to investigate a gang of diamond robbers who are believed to be planning their next heist.

Janet's mission is to go undercover as a worker at a diamond store and find out anything she can about the criminals' activities. Her boss assigns her an experienced partner, Louis Koo, but their relationship doesn't start off well, as Janet's clumsy nature causes her to make many mistakes.

Janet's first few days at the diamond store are disastrous, but she slowly starts to get the hang of it thanks to the help of her colleagues. She starts to develop an attraction for her boss, Dickson, played by Daniel Wu, but she finds out that he is already in a relationship.

Meanwhile, Janet's partner Louis Koo, played by Shiu Hung Hui, is a seasoned undercover cop who is trying to solve his own personal issues while trying to help Janet with the mission. He is dealing with his own breakup and is still in love with his ex-girlfriend, who is the criminal mastermind behind the diamond heists.

As Janet gets closer to the robbers, she starts to fall for Dickson more deeply, but she is torn between her job and her personal life. She also starts to suspect that Dickson might be involved with the robberies but cannot prove it.

The movie features some hilarious scenes as Janet experiences some comical misunderstandings, such as mistaking a diamond for ice, and several failed attempts at seduction. However, it also deals with some more serious themes, such as the tension between work and personal life, love, and betrayal.

The acting of the three leads, especially Miriam Chin Wah Yeung, is exceptional, and the chemistry between the characters is palpable. The director Joe Ma has done an excellent job of balancing the humor and drama of the story, and the pacing is just right.

The cinematography is also top-notch, with some stunning shots of Hong Kong's cityscape and the diamond store where most of the movie is set. The production design is also worth mentioning, with attention to detail in the setting of the jewelry shop.

Overall, Love Undercover is an exciting, funny, and heartwarming movie that explores the complex emotions of love, trust, and betrayal. Its mix of comedy and drama, excellent acting, and beautiful cinematography makes it a must-watch for lovers of romantic comedies.
