Lucky Number Slevin is a 2006 film directed by Paul McGuigan, which follows the story of Slevin Kelevra (Josh Hartnett) in New York City. Slevin is a young man with a troubled past, who finds himself unwittingly caught up in a dangerous game of revenge and deception. The movie starts with Slevin arriving in New York City, only to be mistaken for his friend Nick Fisher, who owes money to two dangerous gangsters, the Boss (Morgan Freeman) and the Rabbi (Ben Kingsley). As Slevin tries to figure out what to do, a series of events unfold that lead him deeper into the underworld of New York City. He meets Lindsey (Lucy Liu), his neighbor, who takes a liking to him and offers to help him out. In terms of its plot, Lucky Number Slevin is a taut and well-crafted thriller. While the film is complex and may require multiple viewings to fully grasp its intricacies, it never feels convoluted or overwrought. The script is sharp and clever, with dialogue that crackles with wit and humor.
