Lucky Lady is a 1975 American comedy-drama film set during the Prohibition era in the United States. The film was directed by Stanley Donen and features a star-studded cast including Gene Hackman, Liza Minnelli, and Burt Reynolds. The movie begins with two bootleggers, Kibby and Walker, who have been running an illegal alcohol operation. However, when Prohibition ends, their business is on the verge of collapsing. To save the business, they join forces with a beautiful and ambitious gambler named Claire, who is looking for a big score. Together, they plan to smuggle a huge shipment of illegal alcohol from Mexico to California.

As they launch their risky venture, the three face numerous challenges and obstacles along the way. They encounter ruthless gangsters, corrupt law enforcement officers, and suspicious government officials. Ultimately, they must rely on their wit, charm, and teamwork to overcome these challenges and pull off the biggest heist of their lives.

The film is notable for its impressive ensemble cast. Gene Hackman delivers a strong performance as Kibby, the grizzled veteran bootlegger who reluctantly teams up with Claire and Walker. Liza Minnelli, in one of her early dramatic roles, portrays Claire with a sensuous and beguiling energy, and Burt Reynolds adds a touch of humor and machismo as Walker, the suave and street-smart womanizer.

The supporting cast is equally impressive, featuring iconic actors such as John Hillerman, Geoffrey Lewis, and Robby Benson. Hillerman plays McTeague, a federal agent assigned to bust the trio's operation. Lewis portrays Hap, a ruthless gangster who wants a cut of the profit. Benson plays Billy, a young drifter who becomes romantically involved with Claire.

The film's action sequences, including thrilling boat chases and shootouts, are well-executed and help to heighten the tension and drama of the story. The film's score, composed by Ralph Burns, is also noteworthy, with lively jazz and swing music that perfectly captures the mood and setting of the era.

Overall, Lucky Lady is an entertaining and engaging film that combines comedy, drama, and action in a satisfying way. The film's excellent cast, strong performances, and thrilling set-pieces make it a must-watch for fans of classic Hollywood cinema.
