Maha-Sangram, released in 1990, is an action-packed Bollywood movie that brings together an ensemble star cast comprising of Vinod Khanna, Madhuri Dixit, and Govinda, among others. The movie centers around two rival families - the Rathods and the Shastris, who are embroiled in a longstanding feud due to an unfortunate incident that occurred years ago. The Rathods are headed by Thakur Suraj Narayan Singh (played by Vinod Khanna), a stern and righteous man who values his family's honor above everything else, while the Shastris are led by Pratap (played by Amjad Khan), a corrupt and power-hungry man who will go to any lengths to take down his enemies.

As the story unfolds, we are introduced to Suraj's younger brother, Vikram (played by Govinda), a carefree and fun-loving guy who falls in love with Shobha (played by Madhuri Dixit), Pratap's niece. Despite their families' bitter animosity towards each other, Vikram and Shobha's love blossoms, much to the dismay of their respective families.

The tension between the two families reaches boiling point when Pratap, in his quest for power, decides to contest the upcoming elections against Suraj. The election campaign becomes a battleground for both families, with each side resorting to dirty tricks and violence to gain the upper hand.

In the midst of all this chaos, Vikram and Shobha's love story takes center stage, with the young couple determined to fight for their love against all odds. With the help of his brother Suraj and his loyal friend Arjun (played by Aditya Pancholi), Vikram sets out to win Shobha's hand in marriage, while also trying to bring an end to the bitter feud between their families.

Maha-Sangram is a quintessential Bollywood masala movie that ticks all the right boxes - action, drama, romance, and catchy songs. The movie is notable for its high-energy dance numbers, featuring the effervescent Govinda and the graceful Madhuri Dixit. The chemistry between the two leads is palpable, and their playful banter adds some much-needed levity to the otherwise serious plot.

The movie also boasts of a talented supporting cast, including Amjad Khan, who is brilliant as the cunning villain Pratap, and Vinod Khanna, who brings gravitas to the role of the righteous Thakur Suraj. The action sequences are well-choreographed and keep the audience on the edge of their seats.

One of the standout aspects of Maha-Sangram is its catchy soundtrack, composed by talented music director duo Anand-Milind. The song "Gori Hain Kalaiyan" became an instant hit and is still remembered as one of Madhuri Dixit's most iconic dance numbers.

Overall, Maha-Sangram is an enjoyable watch for anyone who loves a good masala movie. While the plot may be formulaic and predictable, the movie more than makes up for it with its entertaining performances, foot-tapping music, and action-packed sequences.
