Born Marie Magdalene Dietrich in Province of Brandenburg in Germany in 1901, she came to the United States in the 1930s. In 1939, Marlene became a US citizen and soon an international movie icon. The story was done as an interview. Marlene talked about growing up in Germany and her film career, beginning with Blue Angel in 1930. The film contains film clips from her movies, including an early version of Falling in Love Again, sung in French. Late in her career she agreed to be interviewed for Marlene but wouldn't discuss her private life. She retired in the 1980s.
