Mission Kashmir is a Bollywood action film that was written by Vikram Chandra, Abhijit Joshi, Suketu Mehta, Atul Tiwari and Vidhu Vinod Chopra, who also directed the movie. The story concerns Inayat Khan (played by Sanjay Dutt) as a Senior Superintendent of Police whose job is to keep Srinagar, Kashmir and its people secure. His young son, Irfaan (played by Yogin Soni) is taken to the hospital after an accident. Due to an imposed fatwa, doctors have been forbidden by terrorists to treat police and their families. Khan swears to have the doctors killed if they do not treat his son. They still refuse, indicating they are willing to risk dying to ensure that their families are safe.
Irfaan dies as a result. Khan makes it his mission to demolish the terrorist group to avenge his son's death. After learning that the terrorists are taking refuge in Dalgate, Khan manages to attack and kill them. A family caught in the crossfire is also killed.
Khan continues to fight back and several terrorists are shot to death. His associate, Altaaf takes possession of the missile launcher. He uses it to destroy other launchers and off the last of the terrorists. This saves the day but Altaaf eventually gets a bullet to his torso and falls into the swamp. Khan jumps in,taking an unconscious Altaaf back to safety. He has evaded the many explosions of the hideouts that were caused by Altaaf's acts.
The plans of Mission Kashmir are later revealed to the public. The media discloses the information and those sponsoring the terrorists and their hiding places are found by the police.
They shoot the sponsor while he attempts to free himself after offing two associates. Altaaf wakes up from a pleasant dream connected to pictures he made as a child. In Khan's house, he forgives his father, reconciling with Sufiya so that he has once again accepted him after a long 10 years.
