Mob Story is a crime drama film from 1989 that follows the life of David Leone, a former hitman for the mafia, who has now turned into an informant for the FBI. Directed by Paul Lynch, Mob Story features an ensemble cast of talented actors such as John Vernon, Kate Vernon, Al Waxman, Tony De Santis, and Kevin Hicks. The film opens with a tense and action-packed sequence that sets the tone for the rest of the movie. David Leone (played by John Vernon) is being chased by a group of mobsters, who are trying to eliminate him because he has turned into a rat for the FBI. Leone manages to narrowly escape with his life and seeks refuge in a church, where he confesses his sins to a priest.

As the story progresses, we get to see Leone's past life as a hitman and how he got involved with the mafia. The movie takes us back to the 1960s, where Leone is a small-time hoodlum, making a name for himself in the underworld of New York. After being caught by the police for a minor offense, he is recruited by the mafia because of his courage and his willingness to do what it takes to get the job done.

Leone quickly climbs the ranks of the mob and becomes one of their most trusted hitmen. He has a reputation for being ruthless and efficient, but he also has a code of honor that he follows. Despite his willingness to commit murder, Leone is not a heartless monster and is shown to have a softer side to him, especially when it comes to his daughter, Lisa (played by Kate Vernon).

As the years go by, Leone becomes disillusioned with the mafia lifestyle and decides to turn informant for the FBI. He feels guilty about the people he has hurt and wants to make amends for his past mistakes. However, his decision to turn rat is not taken lightly by the mafia, and he is forced to go into hiding to protect himself and his family.

The rest of the movie follows Leone as he tries to build a new life for himself and his daughter, while also dealing with the constant threat of the mafia coming after him. He forms a friendship with a retired cop, played by Al Waxman, who helps him navigate the dangerous waters he finds himself in. The two men form a bond that is heartwarming to watch and adds a layer of depth to the story.

One of the strengths of Mob Story is its ability to balance action and drama. The movie is full of tense and thrilling sequences that keep the audience on edge, but it also contains emotional and poignant moments that tug at the heartstrings. John Vernon is fantastic in the lead role and brings a sense of gravitas and vulnerability to the character of David Leone. Kate Vernon is also excellent as his daughter, Lisa, and their scenes together are some of the best in the movie.

Overall, Mob Story is a gripping and engaging crime drama that showcases the talents of its cast and crew. It is a story that deals with themes such as redemption, loyalty, and family, and it does so in a way that is both entertaining and thought-provoking. If you are a fan of crime dramas or just looking for a good movie to watch, Mob Story is definitely worth checking out.
