In the movie Mojave Moon, Danny Aiello stars as Al, a middle-aged car salesman in a small desert town who is searching for some meaning in his life. His marriage to Theresa (Anne Archer) has flatlined, and his job is stalled. In the hopes of finding some adventure, Al decides to go on a spontaneous road trip to Las Vegas, but not before he runs into Julie (Angelina Jolie) stranded on the side of the road with her car broken down.

Al offers Julie a ride to Vegas, and she accepts, but it isn't long before Al realizes that he's bitten off more than he can chew with this young, unpredictable hitchhiker. Julie is a free spirit, and her impulsiveness and recklessness make Al uncomfortable, especially when she insists on bringing him to a seedy motel to spend the night. Al tries to keep his distance from Julie and focus on his own agenda, but he quickly finds himself drawn into her world.

As Al and Julie navigate the hot, dusty desert roads, they encounter an array of eccentric characters, including a gun-wielding gas station attendant (Michael Biehn) who sets his sights on Julie. Al and Julie's relationship becomes increasingly complicated as they flirt with danger and temptation, and neither of them knows where this adventure will lead them.

Mojave Moon is an offbeat, character-driven road movie that explores themes of identity, fear, and desire. It's a movie about two people who are stuck in their own lives and searching for something that will make them feel alive again. Danny Aiello delivers a sensitive, nuanced performance as Al, a man who is trying to come to terms with his own limitations and regrets. Anne Archer is also strong as Theresa, Al's neglected wife, who is coping with her own disappointment and disillusionment.

But the real standout in this movie is Angelina Jolie, who gives a fearless, charismatic performance as Julie. Jolie was only 20 years old when she made this movie, but she already had a commanding screen presence and a magnetic energy. She's both vulnerable and dangerous, and she brings a sense of danger to every scene she's in.

Director Kevin Dowling brings a sense of atmosphere and mood to the movie, capturing the stark beauty of the desert landscape and using music and lighting to create an unsettling, dreamlike vibe. The movie isn't always easy to watch; there are moments of violence and sexuality that may be too intense for some viewers. But there's also a sense of humor and playfulness that keeps the movie from becoming too heavy-handed.

Overall, Mojave Moon is a unique and underrated movie that deserves to be rediscovered. It's not a traditional Hollywood movie, and it doesn't offer easy answers or tidy resolutions. But it's an engrossing, thought-provoking journey that will stay with you long after the credits roll.

Mojave Moon is a 1996 thriller with a runtime of 1 hour and 35 minutes. It has received moderate reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 5.2.
