Monster Island is a 2004 adventure-comedy directed by Jack Perez and is a part of the Sci Fi Pictures series of films made for television. The movie stars Carmen Electra, Daniel Letterle, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead. It tells the story of a group of teenagers who find themselves stranded on a mysterious island inhabited by various monsters.

The movie opens with two rivaling schools fighting on a field. The students get into a brawl, and after a while, a strange mist appears, and they are transported to an unknown island. The island is home to various creatures from the mythical world, such as werewolves, giant lizards, and Amazon women. The students need to team up and find a way out of the island before its too late.

The main protagonist of the movie, Josh (Daniel Letterle), is a high school nerd who is constantly bullied by the jocks. Josh is obsessed with comic books and horror movies, making him the perfect character to handle the island's monsters. When he first arrives on the island, he immediately realizes where he is and what he is up against.

He meets two other students named Megan (Mary Elizabeth Winstead) and Cal (Nicky Mondellini). Megan is a cheerleader, while Cal is a football player. Together, they embark on a dangerous journey to find the entrance to a portal that might lead them back home.

As they travel, they meet a few other students, including the pretty but self-centered Mandy (Carmen Electra) and her friends, Rafe (Cullen Douglas) and Marcy (Leila Arcieri). Mandy is a keen archer and is one of the only characters in the movie who has some prior knowledge of the monsters.

On the Island, Josh encounters creatures such as a giant Cyclops, a werewolf, and an angry Hydra. He has extensive knowledge of these monsters from the comic books and video games he's played, making him the team's most valuable asset. Megan, who is an expert in computers, soon discovers that their island is not on any map, and the only way to get off the island is to find a portal.

The group must work together and overcome their differences to outsmart the monsters and get back home. In the process, they learn the value of teamwork, friendship, and never giving up even when things look bleak.

The special effects in the movie, although not on par with modern movies, are good enough to create an interesting mythical world on the island. The movie is shot entirely indoors, and the sets are well-designed, giving the island a creepy, abandoned look. The characters are well-written and add layers to the story, making it worth watching till the end.

The movie is a perfect blend of adventure and comedy, and kids in their early teens would enjoy it the most. The characters are easy to relate to, and the story is engaging. The different monsters featured in the movie keep the audience engaged till the end.

Overall, Monster Island is a fun-filled adventure that is light-hearted and wholesome. It strikes a good balance between comedy and action, and the story has a good pace. Though not a classic, this movie can be enjoyed by anyone looking to kill some time without expecting too much out of a movie.

Monster Island is a 2003 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 32 minutes. It has received mostly poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.6.
