Set in 1940s London during the Blitz, Murder on the Home Front follows the story of pathologist Dr. Lennox Collins (Patrick Kennedy) as he helps the police solve a series of gruesome murders of young women in the city. Collins, a brilliant scientist and a bachelor, works as a consultant for the police, helping them analyze the causes of death and providing crucial evidence to help identify the killer.

The movie opens with the discovery of the first victim, a young nurse named Molly Cooper, whose body is found in a bombed-out building. Collins, who is called to examine the body, becomes intrigued by the case and begins his own investigation, aided by his new assistant, the intelligent and resourceful Molly (Tamzin Merchant).

As the bodies of more young women turn up, Collins finds himself drawn deeper into the investigation, even as he struggles with his own personal demons. Haunted by memories of his experiences in World War I, and struggling to come to terms with his sexuality in an era when homosexuality is illegal, Collins throws himself into his work, using his sharp intellect and keen eye for detail to unravel the killer's twisted motives.

Along the way, Collins partners with the young and ambitious Detective Sergeant Spencer Gibbs (Emerald Fennell), who is determined to make a name for herself by solving the case. Despite facing resistance from her male superiors, Gibbs proves herself to be a capable and fearless investigator, willing to take risks to uncover the truth.

With the help of Collins, Gibbs, and Molly, the police gradually piece together the killer's identity and motives, leading to a thrilling climax that will keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

One of the strengths of Murder on the Home Front is its evocative portrayal of wartime London, with its bombed-out buildings, air-raid shelters, and makeshift hospitals. The movie captures the spirit of resilience and solidarity that characterized the city during the Blitz, even as it explores darker themes of violence and corruption.

The performances in the movie are uniformly excellent, with Patrick Kennedy delivering a nuanced and sensitive portrayal of the troubled pathologist. Tamzin Merchant is also impressive as Molly, bringing a sense of wit and determination to her role as Collins's assistant. And Emerald Fennell shines as the sharp-witted and tenacious Detective Sergeant Gibbs, holding her own against the male-dominated police force.

Overall, Murder on the Home Front is a gripping and thought-provoking crime drama that offers a fresh and engaging take on the classic murder mystery genre. It is a testament to the resilience of the human spirit in the face of adversity, as well as a reminder of the enduring power of justice and truth.
