This biopic, as directed by Viktor Sadovsky, was released in 1991 and was based upon true events, most notably the real life relationship and camraderie between the Russian sports star, Vsevolod Bobrov and Joseph Stalin's son, General Vasili. The circles, however, not only around General Vasili's relationship with Bobrov but also with the sports world in general (as he was, at the time, in charge of the Soviet's sports teams for the military branches) as well as Vasili's fate after the death of his father (Stalin was executed in March 5, 1953, in Kuntsevo Dacha).

The film was released under the leadership of Mikhail Gorbachev who had practically done away with nearly all forms of artistic censorship at the time, thus the film was created almost entirely without production interferance.
