In 1988, the cult classic horror-comedy film Nightmare Sisters was released starring the holy trinity of B-movie scream queens: Linnea Quigley, Brinke Stevens, and Michelle Bauer. The film was directed by David DeCoteau, known for his work in the horror genre, and follows the misadventures of three sorority sisters who unwittingly summon a succubus demon during a séance gone awry.

The movie opens with the three college girls, Melody (Quigley), Marci (Stevens), and Mickey (Bauer), in their sorority house feeling down in the dumps after failing to secure dates for the weekend. In a desperate bid to improve their situation, the girls turn to an occult bookstore owner named Zorka (played by the always menacing character actor, Dukey Flyswatter) who convinces them to hold a séance to conjure up some men.

Things quickly go awry for the trio as they accidentally summon a succubus demon that possesses each one of them and sets them loose to seduce every male in sight. The demon possesses them one by one, imbuing each with a voracious sexual appetite and a thirst for blood. The possessed trio then embark on a wild night out, where they leave a trail of dead guys in their wake, all of whom have either been smothered to death or had their brains sucked out by the succubus.

The only thing standing between the demon and complete domination is a couple of bumbling college boys named David (played by Timothy Kauffman) and Tripper (played by Richard Gabai), who have to figure out what is happening in time to save the seemingly-doomed women.

Nightmare Sisters is a true showcase of the talent of its three leading ladies, who bring their distinct personalities and charisma to their roles. Quigley plays Melody, the punk-rock chick who is the most forward of the three, while Stevens plays Marci, the prim and proper preppy type who lets loose with a vengeance after being possessed. Bauer's Mickey is the sweet and innocent one of the bunch, and she is no less terrifying when possessed by the demon.

The film is classic '80s horror relying heavily on makeup and practical effects to create the horror and humor experienced in shows of this kind. The scares are predictable enough, and the humor is crude and juvenile, but that's precisely its charm. The movie's essence was clearly meant to push the boundaries of what's horror and what's not - bearing the taboo theme of sex and satanic rituals combined to make a wholly entertaining and delightfully weird little horror-comedy flick.

One of the film's most memorable moments is the scene showcasing what the succubi have to offer the men they entice. It is an unforgettable and quite ludicrous scene where the possessed trio sheds their clothes, revealing their ridiculous amounts of lingerie, fondling obscene material, and slathering various food products all over their bodies. Quigley's character, Melody, is particularly bonkers with her punk rock styling and indecipherable, yet comical lines.

The film is ripe with instances such as these, of cringe-inducing, yet surprisingly amusing scenes. DeCoteau was particularly gifted at making something from nothing, crafting a fun-filled and utterly absurd horror comedy on a shoestring budget. Audiences may also enjoy appearances from fellow horror icons such as scream queen Linnea Quigley's cult-favorite character Trash from Return of the Living Dead (1985) and the Night of the Demons (1988) franchise.

Overall, Nightmare Sisters is a fantastically entertaining film that perfectly captures the essence of B-grade horror-comedies of the '80s. It's unashamedly low budget and the lore of the succubus is barely touched upon, so don't take it too seriously because the mission of the movie is to entertain. There's blood, boobs, and a lot of laughs, making it the perfect viewing choice for horror fans looking for something on the lighter side. However, if you're not a fan of cheesy horror and comedy, this flick can quickly become a "nightmare."
