Nothing to Lose is a 1997 American action-comedy film, directed by Steve Oedekerk and starring Martin Lawrence and Tim Robbins in lead roles. The movie also features the talented supporting cast of John C. McGinley, Kelly Preston, Giancarlo Esposito, and Michael McKean. The film is produced by Disney's Hollywood Pictures and Caravan Pictures.

The plot follows an advertising executive named Nick Beam (Tim Robbins), who has a seemingly perfect life. He is rich, married to a beautiful wife, and has a successful career. However, his entire life comes crashing down when he discovers that his wife is having an affair with his boss. Devastated and angry, Nick leaves his office and goes to a convenience store to buy a gun with the intention of confronting his boss.

In the meantime, a small-time crook named Terrence Paul Davidson aka T-Paul (Martin Lawrence) tries to rob the very same convenience store but ends up getting hit by Nick's car while making a hasty getaway. Nick, unsure of what to do next, decides to kidnap T-Paul and use him as a hostage to escape the police.

As the unlikely duo hit the road, they find themselves in a series of comical misadventures while they uncover some shocking truths about themselves and their lives. From an encounter with a group of gangsters to a wild night out in a Mexican bar, Nick and T-Paul form an unlikely bond that helps both men learn something about themselves.

Martin Lawrence plays his typical loud and boisterous comic character, while Tim Robbins delivers a deadpan and often hilarious portrayal of a man who has seemingly lost everything. Their chemistry on-screen is the film's major selling point, elevating some of the more predictable plotlines and predictable jokes.

The supporting cast in Nothing to Lose is equally impressive. John C. McGinley, best known for his roles in Scrubs and Office Space, plays Nick's boss, a slimy advertising executive with a penchant for sleaze. He delivers a solid performance, adding depth to the film's antagonist. Kelly Preston plays Nick's adulterous wife, and while her role is small, she manages to add another dimension to the film's plot.

Giancarlo Esposito plays the role of the ruthless gang leader, Rig, who has a beef with T-Paul. Esposito's performance is energetic and engaging, making his character much more interesting than the stereotypical gangster we're used to seeing in films like this. Finally, Michael McKean delivers a memorable portrayal as Nick's therapist, Dr. Gale, who tries to help Nick work through his feelings of betrayal and loss.

Nothing to Lose is a film that provides plenty of laughs while also exploring themes of loss, redemption, and the power of human connection. While some of the humor is predictable, and the plot isn't groundbreaking, the film's cast manages to elevate it to an enjoyable and entertaining experience. The cinematography captures the essence of the film perfectly, with stunning scenes from the American countryside interspersed with comic sequences that are sure to have you laughing out loud.

Overall, Nothing to Lose delivers exactly what it promises - a fun and entertaining ride that doesn't take itself too seriously, but still manages to offer some poignant moments. It's a film that, while not perfect, is worth watching for the performances alone.

Nothing to Lose is a 1997 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 38 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 6.7.
