Officer Down is a gritty crime drama from 2013 that centers around the life of police officer Detective David Callahan, played by Stephen Dorff. Callahan is a good cop, although he doesn't always toe the line when it comes to following the rules. He's got his own demons to battle, stemming from a difficult childhood, and he takes a number of dangerous risks in his line of work that often put him in harm's way.

The story begins with Callahan on the hunt for a missing child. He's been working the case for weeks, and has become obsessed with finding her. The girl, named Jenny (played by AnnaLynne McCord), was taken from her home in the middle of the night, and the only clue the police have is a vague description of a man in a black car. Callahan's boss, Lieutenant Jake LaRussa (played by Stephen Lang), is growing increasingly frustrated with the lack of progress in the case, and tensions are high throughout the department.

As Callahan continues to dig deeper into the case, he discovers a shocking link between the kidnapper and his own past. He becomes convinced that the man responsible for taking Jenny is actually the same person who killed his own parents years earlier. Callahan's obsession with getting justice for Jenny, as well as for his own family, leads him down a dangerous path that ultimately threatens to destroy his career and his sanity.

Meanwhile, Callahan is also dealing with personal issues at home. His wife, Alexandra (played by Elisabeth Röhm), has recently filed for divorce, and is seeking full custody of their young daughter. Callahan is torn between his dedication to his job and his desire to be there for his family, and he struggles to find a balance between the two.

Throughout the course of the movie, Callahan's journey takes him down some dark and dangerous roads. He's forced to work with a variety of unsavory characters, including a narcotics dealer played by David Boreanaz, in order to get the information he needs to solve the case. He also clashes with his fellow officers, who view him as a loose cannon who can't be trusted.

Despite the odds stacked against him, Callahan refuses to give up on the case. He becomes more and more determined to track down Jenny's kidnapper and bring him to justice, even if it means putting his own life on the line. As the movie draws to a close, the tension builds to a fever pitch, and the audience is left on the edge of their seats as Callahan races against the clock to save Jenny and bring her abductor to justice.

Overall, Officer Down is a well-acted and engaging crime drama that will keep you guessing until the very end. Stephen Dorff delivers a strong performance as the troubled detective, and the supporting cast is equally impressive. The plot is complex and twisty, with plenty of surprises and unexpected turns, and the pacing is just right, never lagging or becoming too frenetic. If you're a fan of gritty crime dramas with complex characters and plenty of suspense, Officer Down is definitely worth a watch.
