Once Upon a Time in China V is a 1994 Hong Kong martial arts film directed by Tsui Hark and starring Wenzhuo Zhao, Rosamund Kwan, and Siu Chung Mok. It is the fifth installment in the Once Upon a Time in China series. The film is set in late 19th century China during the time of western imperialism and the emergence of the Boxer Rebellion. Wong Fei-hung (played by Wenzhuo Zhao) returns to Guangzhou from his travels abroad and finds that his school has been taken over by a group of rival martial artists who are using it to train bandits. Fei-hung challenges the bandits and their leader, Iron Robe Yim, to a duel and emerges victorious, reclaiming his school.

Meanwhile, the British consul in Guangzhou is planning to build a railway through rural areas, which would displace many locals and lead to protests. Wong Fei-hung becomes involved in the protests and tries to negotiate with the consul, but his efforts are met with resistance from the British authorities. The situation escalates when a group of German soldiers arrive in Guangzhou and capture a Chinese rebel leader. Fei-hung and his friends attempt to rescue the rebel leader and stop the British and German forces from carrying out their plans.

Along the way, Fei-hung meets an old friend, Aunt Yee (played by Rosamund Kwan), who has become a successful businesswoman. Their friendship is complicated by Fei-hung's attraction to Aunt Yee's niece, 13th Aunt (played by Jean Wang), and their conflicting views on the role of women in Chinese society.

The film features elaborate fight sequences choreographed by Yuen Woo Ping and Tsui Hark, including a memorable battle on a moving train. The action scenes are executed with precision and are intercut with moments of humor and drama, making for a well-rounded cinematic experience.

Overall, Once Upon a Time in China V is a thrilling martial arts epic that explores the complex historical and cultural conflicts of turn-of-the-century China. The performances are strong, particularly from Wenzhuo Zhao in the lead role, and the direction and choreography are top-notch. Fans of the Once Upon a Time in China series and martial arts cinema in general will not be disappointed.
