Outsourced is a heartwarming 2006 indie film directed by John Jeffcoat that tells the story of Todd Anderson (Josh Hamilton), a middle-aged American manager working for a Seattle-based call center company who is abruptly sent to India to train his replacement for customer support. The movie explores the cultural shock he experiences and how he slowly adjusts to a new way of life.

Todd, who is initially upset and bewildered by the sudden news, finds himself in Mumbai where he realizes he has a lot to learn about the country's people, traditions, and work culture. In a new world full of unfamiliar customs and restrictions, Todd very quickly finds himself in the deep end of the cultural pool, where things are not what he is used to back in America. He quickly realizes that he has to work twice as hard as he did back home if he is ever going to be able to communicate more effectively with his team.

Asif Basra and Ayesha Dharker play a significant role as Todd's colleague and his cultural guide respectively. Sections of the story deal with Todd's journey to understand the colorful culture he finds himself in through his cultural guide, Ayesha Dharker, who plays a lovely bubbly character named Asha. Asha is a patient and kind woman and helps Todd adjust to the intricacies of Indian life, from riding the train to practicing yoga.

Todd finds himself in a world full of sights and sounds he has never experienced before. He cannot speak the language and does not know how to react to the many questions locals ask him. However, through his professional and personal interactions, Todd begins to understand the beauty of Indian culture, including the emphasis on family and personal relationships, and more importantly, how these values manifest in the workplace.

One aspect of the film that stands out is the depiction of working conditions and life for the call center workers. They have long hours and demanding targets, but their spirit towards Todd and his unfamiliar cultural norms is what sets India apart from the rest of the world.

As Todd navigates through his cultural differences, he finds he has a lot to offer the people who work at the call center, and they have a lot to offer him. Through this realization, he begins to build his own city of dreams and discovers his connection with India, and its people go far beyond the professional obligation he initially had when he first arrived.

Outsourced is a charming film that gives insights into some of the cultural differences existing between Americans and different parts of the world, especially India. The director explores cultural barriers and misunderstandings in a way that is both entertaining, engaging, and sincere. The movie is beautifully crafted and demonstrates the coexistence of different cultures, as well as the contrast between modernity and tradition.

In addition to the excellent screenplay and direction, the actor's performance is noteworthy. Josh Hamilton does a fantastic job as the bumbling Todd, bringing his character to life and portraying his frustrations and struggles with authenticity. Ayesha Dharker brings a fantastic performance as Asha, the joyful and optimistic cultural guide who helps Todd understand India and its values. Asif Basra delivers a stand-out performance providing Todd with some of the funniest moments in the film.

Overall, Outsourced is a delightful and insightful movie for anyone looking for a movie with an excellent storyline and an appreciation for diverse cultures. It showcases how with an open mind, one can learn so much from traveling and experiencing a new part of the world that could change their lives forever.

Outsourced is a 2007 comedy with a runtime of 1 hour and 43 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.0 and a MetaScore of 70.
