Padosan is a 1968 Bollywood film directed by Jyoti Swaroop and produced by Mehmood. The movie is a classic comedy and features a hilarious script, catchy songs, and some outstanding performances by its lead cast. The film opens with Bhola (played by Sunil Dutt), a simple-minded and shy music teacher who has a crush on his neighbor Bindu (played by Saira Banu), a beautiful and confident woman. However, Bhola is completely oblivious to Bindu's feelings for him and is desperate to impress her.

To win her heart, Bhola seeks the help of his friend Vidyapati (played by Mehmood), a poet and a ladies' man who comes up with a plan to make Bindu fall for Bhola. Vidyapati suggests that Bhola should sing a romantic song to Bindu, and he offers to write the lyrics and coach him on the tune.

However, the plan backfires when Bindu catches Vidyapati singing the song and assumes that he is the one who composed it. To make matters worse, Vidyapati falls for Bindu himself and starts competing with Bhola for her affections.

As the story progresses, we see the trio getting tangled in a web of misunderstandings and comical situations. Bhola's attempts to impress Bindu turn into a series of hilarious escapades, with Vidyapati trying to sabotage his efforts at every turn.

The film's highlight is undoubtedly its music, with legendary composer R.D. Burman creating some of his most memorable tunes for the movie. Songs like "Mere Saamne Wali Khidki Mein", "Ek Chatur Naar", and "Kisi Ke Haath Na Ayegi Yeh Ladki" have become classics over the years and are still popular among Bollywood fans.

The performances of the lead cast are also noteworthy, with Sunil Dutt delivering a charming and endearing portrayal of the innocent Bhola. Saira Banu is equally impressive as Bindu, and her chemistry with Dutt is delightful to watch. However, it is Mehmood who steals the show with his comic timing and impeccable dialogue delivery as Vidyapati.

Apart from the lead trio, the film also features a talented supporting cast, including Kishore Kumar, Om Prakash, and Mukri, who add to the fun and laughter with their quirky characters and witty one-liners.

Padosan is a timeless classic that has stood the test of time and remains a favorite among Bollywood fans even today. The movie's humor and music have a universal appeal, and its message of the importance of honesty and friendship continues to resonate with audiences around the world.

Overall, Padosan is a delightful movie that showcases the best of Bollywood's comedy and musical traditions. It is a must-watch for anyone who loves classic Indian cinema and appreciates a good laugh.

Padosan is a 1968 comedy with a runtime of 2 hours and 37 minutes. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 8.1.
