Past Tense is a suspense thriller from 1994, directed by Graeme Clifford and starring Scott Glenn, Anthony LaPaglia, and Lara Flynn Boyle. The movie takes place in a small town in Pennsylvania and tells the story of a man named Jack (Glenn), who is trying to unravel a mystery from his past while dealing with the dangerous consequences of his investigation.

The movie opens with Jack waking up in a hospital with no memory of his past. He soon discovers that he has been on the run for the past few years, and that he is wanted for a series of crimes including murder. With the help of a sympathetic nurse named Matty (Boyle), Jack escapes from the hospital and sets out to clear his name.

As Jack begins to investigate his past, he discovers that he was involved in a top-secret military operation that went terribly wrong. With the help of a former colleague named Vincent (LaPaglia), Jack starts to piece together the events of his past and uncovers a dangerous conspiracy that threatens his safety and the safety of everyone around him.

The movie is paced well, with plenty of action and suspense to keep the audience engaged. The performances are strong across the board, with Glenn doing an excellent job in the lead role. He manages to convey a sense of vulnerability and confusion while also projecting strength and determination.

LaPaglia is also impressive as Vincent, playing the role with a quiet intensity that perfectly suits the character. Boyle rounds out the main cast with a solid performance as Matty, bringing a sense of warmth and compassion to the role.

One of the strengths of the movie is its atmosphere. The small town setting is nicely realized, with plenty of dark alleys and shadowy corners to highlight the sense of danger and uncertainty that pervades the story. The use of lighting and camera angles is effective in creating a sense of unease, and the music score complements the visuals nicely.

Overall, Past Tense is a well-made thriller that should satisfy fans of the genre. The plot is engaging and the performances are strong, making for an enjoyable and suspenseful viewing experience. While it may not be the most original movie in the genre, it is executed well enough to make it worth a watch.
