Perlasca is a 2002 Italian film based on real life events. The film is shown in an autobiographical manner. The setting is the 1920s. It illustrates the account of Giorgio Perlasca, an Italian fighter who supported the Fascist forces. He was fighting in Africa at the time. When the Nazis occupied Italy in 1944, Perlasca moved to the Spanish embassy and started a new life there, changing his name to Jorge. When the ambassador is fired, Perlasca takes over, as if the Spanish authorities appointed him, when they did not. Throughout the Second World War, Perlasca demonstrates exemplary courage, both to his fellow Italians and to the Spanish, as he leads a double life.
