The movie Piranha II: The Spawning is a horror film that is set off an island in the Caribbean. A young couple is out of their hotel room looking to have a romantic encounter by the beach. They find a sunken ship off the shore and swim in for some fun. Little did they know they found a piranha breeding ground and were eaten by the fish.
The next day a group of tourists are taking diving courses. Tyler Sherman is with the group that is learning how to dive. Anne is the instructor of the class and one of her divers swims into the shipwreck. When she goes after the student she finds that he was also eaten by the piranhas. Her estranged husband by the name of Steve refuses to listen to her story about the killer fish.
While the police refuse to think that piranhas are causing all the deaths more swimmers are being eaten alive. The piranhas have now developed the ability to fly so they are a threat in and out of the water. Anne and Tyler have become friends and are now working together to find out what is happening to all the swimmers and prove that it is the fish causing the terror.
Anne forgets one of her cards when she and Tyler visit the morgue. Steve finds her card and is angry with her. He begins to think she is involved in the murder. Anne cancels all of her diving classes for fear that it is not safe to be in the water. Steve discovers the piranhas on his own and surprises Anne with one. He tells her that Tyler is just using her to get the message of the deadly fish out to the public.
Anne discovers the piranhas do not like the sunlight and develops a plan. Anne, Steve, and Tyler go out to the stop of the shipwreck. Tyler sacrifices himself so that Anne can get away safely. Tyler sets off the bomb and the ship along with the piranhas are destroyed. Anne and Steve get away safely and the fish are gone.
Piranha II: The Spawning is a 1982 horror movie with a runtime of 1 hour and 34 minutes. It has received poor reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 3.8 and a MetaScore of 15.
