Pirates of Blood River is a 1962 swashbuckler film starring Kerwin Mathews, Glenn Corbett, and Christopher Lee. Set in the 17th century, the film tells the story of a group of Huguenot refugees who are terrorized by a gang of pirates after their settlement is invaded. The film begins with a group of French refugees sailing to a new home in the West Indies. Their leader, Hilary Evans (Mathews), hopes to build a new community where they can practice their religion in peace. However, their peace is short-lived when they are attacked by a band of pirates led by the ruthless Captain LaRoche (Lee).

The pirates capture the men and women, taking them back to their island stronghold to hold them for ransom. However, Hilary manages to escape and begins a plan to rescue his fellow colonists. He meets with the local governor (Corbett) and pleads for his help, but the governor is more interested in keeping the pirates at bay than in rescuing the Huguenots.

Undeterred, Hilary begins to recruit a small band of men to help him attack the pirate stronghold. They make their way to the island and begin their assault, taking the pirates by surprise. However, things soon take a turn for the worse when one of the Huguenots is captured and tortured by the pirates.

As tensions rise, Hilary must balance his desire for revenge against his desire to maintain his moral compass. He is forced to make difficult choices as he fights to rescue his friends and defeat the pirate menace once and for all.

The film features plenty of swashbuckling action, including sword fights and daring escapes. The performances are strong, with Mathews delivering a powerful lead as the determined Hilary. Lee is also excellent as the villainous Captain LaRoche, bringing a sense of menace and danger to the role.

Overall, Pirates of Blood River is an enjoyable and exciting swashbuckler film that will appeal to fans of the genre. With its strong performances and thrilling action, it remains a classic of the era and a film that is well worth watching.
