Pirates of Blood River is a 1962 swashbuckler film starring Kerwin Mathews, Glenn Corbett, and Christopher Lee. The film begins with a group of French refugees sailing to a new home in the West Indies. Undeterred, Hilary begins to recruit a small band of men to help him attack the pirate stronghold. They make their way to the island and begin their assault, taking the pirates by surprise. However, things soon take a turn for the worse when one of the Huguenots is captured and tortured by the pirates.
As tensions rise, Hilary must balance his desire for revenge against his desire to maintain his moral compass. He is forced to make difficult choices as he fights to rescue his friends and defeat the pirate menace once and for all.
The film features plenty of swashbuckling action, including sword fights and daring escapes. The performances are strong, with Mathews delivering a powerful lead as the determined Hilary. Lee is also excellent as the villainous Captain LaRoche, bringing a sense of menace and danger to the role.
