"The pond. This is where hockey was born-under the open sky-where the ice is gritty and so is the play."

This is an interesting documentary about the value of tradition in outdoor hockey and how it has changed over the years. With interviews from hockey stars like Wayne Gretzky and Sidney Crosby, Pond Hockey examines the importance of outdoor games, since that is where young hockey players of the past began to develop their interest and skill in the sport. Now most young athletes just starting to learn how to play ice hockey are trained in temperature controlled indoor facilities. Many of the sport's purists miss the way things used to be when the cold and snow were such a part of the game.

Pond Hockey is a 2008 documentary. It has received mostly positive reviews from critics and viewers, who have given it an IMDb score of 7.8.
