Potiche is a story about a trophy wife who becomes much more. Suzanne has been taught that a woman's place is in the home. As a result, her husband is the only one allowed to work and he gets away with everything. He ignores her opinions and uses her while his eyes roam to other women. Suzanne is incredibly submissive and blind to the truth.
When workers at the family's umbrella factory go on strike and her husband can no longer work, Suzanne shows everyone, and especially herself, that she has what it takes to succeed outside of her home.
