The movie Pretty Persuasion is a satirical comedy film. The movie follows a fifteen-year-old girl who is in high school. The girl claims that she was sexually harassed by her drama teacher. The movie features Evan Rachel Wood, James Woods, and Ron Livingston. The girl who is claiming harassment is named Kimberly. She attends Roxbury High School, which is a school for the wealthy children that live in Beverly Hills, California. This school is an exclusive private school. She and her best friend, Brittany, befriend a girl named Randa. Randa has recently moved to the area from the Middle East. The drama/English teacher named Percy Anderson does not treat Randa well. He makes fun of her and belittles her heritage. Kimberly decides to get revenge on Mr. Anderson. Mr. Anderson has been known to check out his female students. He does not act on his thoughts or try to do anything inappropriate with them. Kimberly comes up with a lie to accuse Mr. Anderson of sexual harrassment. She gets Brittany and Randa to join her in the lie. Kimberly's plot for revenge does not go as planned. A local television reporter wants to use the story that Kimberly and her friends are telling to make herself a well-known reporter throughout the nation. Kimberly's father is more concerned with how the accusations made by his daughter will affect his business. He is worried that the story will drive away business.
With all the media attention and publicity the story is getting, everyone finds out in the end that she made up the charges. Kimberly ends up getting in a lot of trouble for making a false report. This film was nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at the 2005 Sundance Film Festival and was recognized by an international audience.
