Ranmutha Duwa, which translates to "Island of Treasures," is a renowned Sri Lankan film that has achieved cinematic importance for being the first full-length color film made in the Sinhalese language. The film is about the discovery of an ancient treasure deep underwater near the largely unexplored island of Ceylon, and the journey to claim it. Rife with legends, intrigue, and romance, the film rose to become a tremendous commercial success upon its release in 1962.
