Relative Values is a delightful British comedy set in the 1950s. Directed by Eric Styles and based on a play by Noel Coward, the film is a satirical take on social customs and class distinctions of that era. It stars the legendary Julie Andrews, Edward Atterton, and William Baldwin in pivotal roles. The story revolves around the wealthy Marshwood family and their servants, who are all set for a grand celebration at their ancestral home. The family's son, Nigel (Edward Atterton), has recently gotten engaged to the Hollywood movie star, Miranda Frayle (Jeanne Tripplehorn). Nigel's mother, Felicity Marshwood (Julie Andrews), is over the moon about the engagement and is eagerly awaiting Miranda's arrival at the family estate.

However, things take a turn when it is revealed that Miranda's half-sister, Moxie (Sophie Thompson), is also part of the guest list. The Marshwoods and their servants are shocked to learn that Moxie is their former maid, who was unceremoniously fired by Felicity's sister, Dora (Joanna Lumley), years ago due to her unsavory behavior.

To make matters worse, Moxie has now reinvented herself as a savvy American socialite who has written a bestselling book on etiquette. Felicity is horrified by the prospect of having to host someone of Moxie's background and hence wants her to be kept away from Miranda and their guests. However, Nigel is smitten with Moxie and is unaware of her connection to their family.

As the movie progresses, we see how the Marshwoods and their servants try to navigate the complex social dynamics while keeping Moxie out of sight. However, their plans backfire when they discover that Moxie's book on etiquette is all about making fun of the aristocracy and their customs. This leads to a series of hilarious misunderstandings and situations which threaten to ruin Nigel's engagement and the Marshwood's reputation.

In the midst of all this chaos, we see the budding romance between Moxie and Nigel, which is heartwarming to watch. Their chemistry is delightful, and Edward Atterton and Sophie Thompson have done an excellent job of bringing their characters to life. Julie Andrews also steals the show with her witty one-liners and impeccable comic timing. She portrays Felicity as a strong-willed woman who struggles to reconcile her classist beliefs with her love for Nigel.

William Baldwin's character, the American movie producer Don Lucas, adds a touch of glamour to the film. He plays Miranda's love interest and provides support to Moxie's unconventional ways. Baldwin has given a nuanced performance and his chemistry with Jeanne Tripplehorn is also noteworthy.

Overall, Relative Values is a charming and entertaining movie with an excellent ensemble cast. The film does an excellent job of mixing social satire with hilarious situations and heartwarming romance. The movie's production design and costumes also add to its nostalgic charm. If you are a fan of British humor, then this movie is definitely worth a watch.
