Michael Cochran just wants to enjoy the rest of his life. Michael visits Mexico, receiving two shotguns and an invite from his crime boss friend, Tiburon Mendez, to visit his hacienda. While searching for the hacienda, Cochran meets a young woman. She happens to be Tibby's wife, Miryea. Miryea lives luxuriously but without child; Tibby thinks pregnancy would ruin her good looks.
During another party, Tibby and bodyguards close by, Michael and Miryea make love. Michael worries Tibby will know, but Miryea pleads for him to stay. The two will rendezvous at a distant cabin. However, some of this plan is overheard. Tibby invites Michael to a factory to custom-fit his shotguns, but Michael says no. Tibby says goodbye.
The lovers make it to their cabin, but Tibby shows up. Miryea is insulted and slashed by Tibby while his goons pummel Michael. Further, the men commit arson, tossing Michael in the desert to die. Miryea's fate is within a brothel, where she discovers that the man drugging her has AIDS. She asks to share a needle.
Michael is found by a Good Samaritan, who revives him. Michael returns to the cabin site, retrieving some cash. The Samaritan takes Michael to town, giving him a knife. While here, Michael is offered a ride by a Texan into a cantina. Michael recognizes one of Tibby's thugs here, and ends the thug's life in the bathroom. After a long drive, the Texan sells his horse to a rich man, whom remembers Michael from a day at Tibby's. The Texan soon dies.
Michael heads to a motel, meeting a pair of men who want Tibby dead. The men capture another henchman, who reveals Miryea's location. Michael storms into her brothel, learning Miryea moved; only Tibby knows where. They ambush Tibby, with Tibby asking Michael to apologize for stealing his wife. Miryea winds up dying of AIDS before Michael makes it, carrying her outside as she dies in his arms.
